Very hot Labor Day, then slow cooling

Highs in the hundreds will continue through the Labor Day holiday.

Fresno reached a high of 100 degrees Saturday and 102 degrees Sunday. It’s above the average high of 95 degrees this time of year. The average low is 65 degrees.

A cooling trend begins midweek, but temperatures will fall so slowly they won’t reach below average until the start of next week.

Expect a high of 102 once again Labor Day. Tuesday and Wednesday will be only slightly cooler with highs of 101 degrees.

Expect a high of 98 degrees Thursday, 97 degrees Friday and 96 degrees Saturday. Sunday’s high will be 91 degrees.

The Valley will see more clouds through the middle of the week as moisture moves in from the southeast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible in the mountains through Thursday and again Sunday into next week.
