Central Valley foothill communities brace for intense precipitation

Just days after intense snow, ice and rain, communities in the Sierra Foothills are bracing for more rain and melting snow.

Tricia Louise Tracy owns Love café in Oakhurst. She says the weather has already kept their doors closed several days this year.

“Being here in the town of Oakhurst, rather than up in the mountains where some of use are used to it on our driveways, it literally shut down town because once the snow stopped and then it froze that night everything became ice.”

Love Cafe sits near a river. Tracy says, “More rain! Oh my gosh. There’s a river right behind here and last year, a few years ago that river flooded and came up here to the building. We’re hoping that doesn’t happen again.”

Impacts from unsettled weather are expected through the weekend.
