FRESNO, California (AP) — Record-breaking heat that has been baking California is easing, with some exceptions.

Excessive-heat warnings remain in place Wednesday in the San Joaquin Valley, the Eastern Sierra and the southeastern corner of the state, and a heat advisory is in effect in the northwestern corner.

In the Fresno area on Wednesday, the National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting 104 degrees.

The NWS says relief from the heat is arriving along the coast with the return of onshore flow and the marine layer.

Meteorologists note that Sierra Nevada snowmelt continues to raise water levels in many rivers and streams.
