Severe twisters have hit areas in the Southeast, leading to “a number of fatalities” in Alabama, CNN reported on Sunday.
Officials said there were dozens of tornadoes in Lee County, Alabama.
Search and rescue efforts were underway for those who were missing and that they believed there were multiple injuries.
Across the Southeast, 14 million people are expected to see severe weather, officials said.
The National Weather Service also predicted scattered tornadoes and gusts of wind in most of Central Georgia and parts of North Georgia on Sunday.
