Ronnie Rivers to start at running back on Saturday

Local Sports

True freshman Ronnie Rivers, the son of ex-Bulldog Ron Rivers, was listed on the Bulldogs’ depth chart Monday as RB1.

“Very impressive,” said head coach Jeff Tedford. “He’s very locked in, doesn’t make mental mistakes. Instinctive runner. Good pass protector, catches the ball really well out of the backfield. He’s a complete back. And we’re in a good position there to have really four guys with him, Dejonte (O’Neal), (Josh) Hokit and Mims, Jordan Mims. All four of those guys will play. But Ronnie really has done a lot in this camp and deserves to be the guy that starts it out.”

Fresno State opens its season on Saturday at 7 pm against Incarnate Word.
