Diamond ‘Dogs MW tournament hopes fall short

Local Sports

FRESNO, Calif. — Needing two wins to keep their Mountain West Tournament hopes alive, the Diamond ‘Dogs were unable to build off an early 1-0 lead over UNLV on Friday night falling 7-3 to the Rebels at Bob Bennett Stadium.

Fresno State (29-24, 12-17 MW), who was officially eliminated from MW Tournament contention with the loss, jumped out to an early one-run lead and smacked 10 hits in the contest, but it wasn’t enough as UNLV (33-21, 14-15 MW) was too much for the ‘Dogs to overcome.
