Campbell reportedly transferring
Oregon State freshman Jordan Campbell is reportedly on his way to Fresno.
The Fresno State men’s basketball team looks to be building some program momemtum in Justin Hutson’s first year at the helm, and next season, it looks the Bulldogs will be adding another transfer from the Pac-12 conference.
According to multiple reports, former Oregon State guard Jordan Campbell is headed to Fresno State. Campbell was a three-star recruit out of Adelanto High School, who averaged nearly 30 points per game as a high school senior.
He originally signed with San Diego State out of high school, when Hutson and current Bulldog assistant Tim Shelton were assistants with the Aztecs.
After Hutson and Shelton left for Fresno State, he was granted a release from the Aztecs and eventually signed with Oregon State.
He’ll have three years of eligibility of remaining and a redshirt year available if he wants it. If, as expected, he enrolls at Fresno State for the spring semester, he would then possibly be eligible to play midseason next year as a sophomore, which could be useful for the Bulldogs, who will be losing starting guards Deshon Taylor and Braxton Huggins after this season.
Hokit wins Big 12 wrestling award
Fresno State two-sport star Josh Hokit is getting some love for his exploits on the mat.
He was voted Big 12 wrestler of the week by the league’s head coaches.
The junior, who also stars as a running back in football, beat 4th-ranked Willie Miklus of Iowa State over the weekend in a dual meet on the road.
Since transitioning over to the mat after helping the Bulldog football team to a historic 12-win season and a win in the Las Vegas Bowl, Hokit has gone 13-3 on the mat.
The win over Miklus was Hokit’s first win over a ranked opponent this season and the highest ranked wrestler a Bulldog has defeated this season.
This marks the first weekly award for the Bulldogs, since the return of the wrestling program.
