FRESNO, Calif. – A “must-win game.”
That’s what Fresno FC head coach Adam Smith said about Wednesday night’s match before it even started.
The Foxes were hosting Rio Grande Valley FC. And they had a magic number of six, meaning a win on Wednesday and a win on Saturday would clinch them a playoff spot.
Now they just need a win on Saturday.
The Foxes beat the Toros in a blowout, 5-0, behind two goals apiece from Qudus Lawal and Jaime Chavez. Emir Alihodzic also scored for Fresno FC, which moves into solo second place in the USL’s Western Conference.
