Riley Winter was born at 35 weeks with Tetrology of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia (a rare congenital heart defect) along with complications with his lungs. He has been in the NICU at Valley Children's Hospital since 11/11/17 and is awaiting heart surgery.

In December 2017, Wesley Winter's brother committed suicide before Christmas. The vehicle the family currently drives is in need of constant repair. The Winter family has to often stay at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Central Valley, Inc. and need reliable transportation from their home in Porterville to Fresno.

Funds raised from their GoFundMe page will help medical and living costs, and a renewed vehicle will help them travel back and forth from Porterville to Valley Children's Hospital.

The Gonzalez Family
(Spring 2018 Finalist)

On Saturday September 2nd, young firefighter Mia Nataliza Gonzalez lost her footing at the Sequioia National Forest and fell 50ft down a steep mountain side. The damage from the fall has left her paralyzed from the waist down.

Mia was a first responder and fought fires in Butte County. She was also part of a team that helped prevent the Oroville Dam from flooding in February 2017.

Funds raised from GoFundMe will help pay for extensive medical bills. A renewed vehicle would aid in the constant need for doctors appointments and physical therapy for the family. Mia also intends on helping bring awareness to CalFire and the charitable organizations she works with.

The Holland Family
(Spring 2018 Finalist)

Wendy Handcock and her husband Gabriel Garcia died in a car accident. Their daughter, Ariana Enriquez, was six months old at the time and was found crying between two live power lines. She was later rescued by a neighbor, Jose Sanchez. Ariana suffered third, second and first degree burns. Her scars are visible today.

6 months prior to Wendy and Gabriel's accident, Wendy's mother Denise Holland lost her husband. She now takes care of Wendy's children, Ariana Enriquez, Alexus Handcock and Gabriel. Alexus, Denise's granddaughter, is 18 years old and has special needs.

All funds raised from GoFundMe will be used to support health care costs, and a renewed car will help transportation from their home in Riverdale to appointments in Hanford and Fresno.
