The smallest surviving male baby in the world has been sent home after spending months in a Tokyo hospital.

The baby boy was born through a C-section last August after he failed to gain weight during the pregnancy.

Weighing only 9.5 ounces at birth, the doctors feared his life was in danger. The infant was in the ICU until his weight reached seven pounds. He was finally discharged on February 20th.

The smallest baby girl was also born in Germany in 2015, weighing 8.8 ounces.
