Woman In Tower District Terrified As Home Break In Attempt Is Caught On Tape

It was the last thing Christina Paul was expecting as she was spending a quiet night last Friday, unwinding and watching TV in her Tower District Home.  Paul’s husband was away.  That’s when the doorbell rang.  She thought it was her husband.  She thought wrong.

She opened the door to see that it was not her husband, but rather a woman she didn’t know.
“I asked her can I help you?”, Paul says.  That’s when things took a violent turn.  The whole thing caught on tape by her doorbell surveillance camera.   Paul says the woman said something about looking for her daughter.  To which Paul responded ” No one is here.. You’re daughter’s not here”.

That’s when Paul shut the door and watched through her doorbell camera as the scene on her doorstep turned into one of chaos.  The woman began to shout, demanding that she be let in. The shouts turned violent, and the woman slammed her body against the door several times. She finally broke a window, flying shards of glass visible, and pulled the screen off the window.

Inside her home, Christine called 911, and as a retired Fresno State Police officer pulled out her gun. “Yeah.. Her head is I saw her Head.. And I saw her arms.. And her left arm was reaching in.”   Paul can be heard on the tape asking the woman “I have a gun.. Why.. What are you doing?”  Things could have taken a violent, or even deadly turn.  Paul trying to determine whether the situation required lethal force. “I’m having to make that decision.. You know.. Do I shoot?”

Finally the suspect, now identified as 30-year old Hanna Nakagawa, a first grade teacher with Fresno Unified School District, backed off and hid behind a pillar.  A Fresno Police Officer pulled up and asked  ” Hi.. Hi.. Do you live here?”   Nakagawa admitted that she did not.  Nakagawa was taken to Police headquarters, arrested and released.  She now reportedly faces misdemeanor charges of vandalism.
