Warrant out for man with ties to Atwater woman's brutal murder

Jacob Gonzales is a person of interest in Katherine Cunningham's death

Island County, WA - An arrest warrant is out for Jacob Gonzales.

He's facing auto theft and unlawful possession of weapons charges.


The Island County Sheriff's Office says Gonzales is a person of interest in the murder of 26-year-old

Katherine Cunningham.

Her father tells CBS47, she grew up in Atwater and Merced.

She graduated from McSwain Elementary and Buhach Colony High School.

Cunningham's body was found in Washington state earlier this month.

The coroner says she was decapitated.

The sheriff's office tell us the Honda Civic he was driving was found abandoned on I-5 in Yreka this

week.

They are still looking for Gonzales.

There is a million dollar warrant out for his arrest.

Investigators found a hidden bunker in the ground, filled with weapons, ammunition and other supplies

on the island where Cunningham's body was discovered.
