Visalia tax preparer arrested, accused of fraud, falsifying tax documents

VISALIA, California - A south valley tax preparer is in custody, accused of identity theft and fraud.

Visalia police arrested Brandy Engman, 49, today at her office 'Engman Tax Service'. 

Police began investigating Engman nearly seven months ago for credit card fraud. During their investigation they learned she is also a suspect of identity theft, burglary and has been knowingly falsifying tax documents.

Police say she runs her office out of her home garage on the 2300 block of S. Cain st. A search warrant was issued today and resulted in the seizure of her tax records.  

Engman was taken into custody without incident and booked at Tulare County Jail. She is being charged with check fraud, burglary, ID theft, theft by false pretense and knowingly falsifying tax documents.
