Unborn child of woman killed in Fresno County crash passes away

The unborn child of a woman who was killed Friday afternoon in a car crash at Fowler and Conejo Avenues has died.

The tragedy began to unfold late Friday afternoon when two vehicles crashed head on, killing a 23-year old hispanic woman who has not been identified.  Her 11-year old stepdaughter is now reportedly in critical condition.

The driver of the truck that collided with the woman’s vehicle had minor injuries.

Officers say the pregnant woman who was killed was driving a black Ford Focus.  She following a white Chevy Malibu northbound on Fowler.

The man driving the truck she collided with was heading southbound.

Investigators say the Malibu turned right in front of the truck, which swerved and hit the Ford Focus head on.

The driver of the Malibu that triggered the crash then fled the scene.  The CHP is asking anyone with information to come forward, as the driver could now face charges in the deaths of both the woman and her unborn child.
