U.S. postal service to release stamps honoring military dogs

(KRON) — Attention dog lovers — the United States Postal Service is releasing stamps honoring military dogs.

The new stamp collection will feature German shepherds, Labrador retrievers, Belgian Malinois and Dutch shepherds — breeds that normally serve in the armed forces. 

Dogs have served in the military since World War I and more than 2,000 dogs currently serve on U.S. military bases worldwide. 

The military dogs often work side-by-side with soldiers, helping with searches and rescues. 

It’s unclear when the new stamps will be released, though the military dog stamps are part of the USPS 2019 collection.
