LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas (KARK) – Police in Little Rock, Arkansas have released video showing a deadly confrontation between a suspected car thief and an officer.
It started just after 11 a.m. on February 22nd when Little Rock police say a license plate reader alerted detectives to a stolen car being driven by 30-year-old Bradley Blackshire.
Police used city cameras to track him down. They say Blackshire initially stopped his vehicle, but when Officer Charles Starks got out of his patrol car, Blackshire accelerated and hit the officer.
Police say once the officer was hit, he fired his gun, killing Blackshire.
Officer Starks was injured and has since been relieved of duty.
The surveillance video was released to the community by the Little Rock Police Department on its Facebook page.
Police have wrapped up their criminal investigation. It’s now in the prosecutor’s hands to determine if criminal charges will be filed.
