Two ATM Robberies on the Same Day, Suspects Still on the Run

News

Violent assaults took place at two different ATM machines in Fresno. Police are releasing surveillance video with hopes the public can help them identify the suspects. The first assault happened at a Noble Credit Union kiosk near Shields and Millbrook. Another victim was held up at gun point at a Bank of America ATM near Cedar and Tulare avenues.

The first assault took place on August 23 around 4:18pm at the Noble Credit Union ATM kiosk. The ATM in in a highly visible location, didn’t that didn’t stop the suspect from assaulting a woman in broad daylight and taking her money.

Sgt. James Fowler with the Fresno Police Department said on Thursday about the victim, “She was very upset, very upset. But, she wasn’t injured fortunately.”

Fowler said the suspect struck again that same day. This time, later on at night at the Bank of America near Cedar and Tulare. The suspect- who has long hair- is seen casing the area before his partner pulls a gun on a customer. That suspect is described as a Hispanic man. He demanded money from the victim and the victim obeyed and gave the suspect the money – a tip police said you should always do if faced with the same situation.

Fresno resident Jerry Thomas said, “I would never come here at night because of how it’s set up.”

Thomas said he couldn’t believe someone was held up at gunpoint at the Bank of America. He said he comes here all the time.

“Very scary. If they’re still living, God is good. You know, the money can be replaced, but a life, gone forever,” stated Thomas.

Police said they need the public’s help in finding these dangerous individuals.

Fowler said, “Anytime a citizen is accosted physically, we’re concerned about that, definitely.”

He suggests if you have the slightest concern about the safety of an ATM, go inside to get the money you need.

Anyone with information on who these suspects may be, contact the Fresno Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
