Two arrested in prostitution case at Fresno massage parlor

News
Two people were arrested Monday during a prostitution sting at a Fresno massage parlor.

Fresno county sheriff’s deputies raided the “Angel” massage parlor on Shaw Avenue near Blackstone.

It’s easy to pass by the parlor without ever noticing it but the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said the business had been on its radar for weeks.

Staff of the parlor were held and questioned before trying to make a quick escape without being seen.

Three women raced to their cars with towels over their heads to block their identities.

A witness working at a business in the same building, did not want to be identified but said he was shocked to see deputies pull up and detain the women.

“I was coming back in from lunch and the sheriff’s department came in with their truck and their van and a couple of other vehicles,” said the witness.

He said the deputies walked in and started searching the facility, which never gave any indication it was being run illegally.

“Just regular foot traffic that comes in on a daily basis,” said the witness.

“The sheriff’s vice unit has been conducting an investigation into a massage parlor at this location for about the last six weeks,” said Lieutenant Matt Alexander with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

He said they had undercover deputies frequent the business to spot any foul play.

“Some undercover officers were solicited for sex acts so we went ahead and applied for a search warrant,” said Alexander.

Investigators searched cars and pulled evidence from the offices.

Two people were arrested for prostitution, before they were eventually cited and released.

Deputies said there were customers in the parlor during the raid but nothing illegal was happening at the time.

While there is no evidence indicating how long the business had been operating as a front, those working only feet away said there was simply no way to tell.

“You just don’t know what’s going on in the business next door. That’s what’s going through your mind,” said the witness.

The owner did not appear to be at the parlor during the raid.

It is unclear if they are facing any charges.

Investigators are looking into all possible connections including links to another massage parlor which was shut down over a month ago.
