Triple fatal crash in Madera County

It all started when one car drifted into a different lane, says CHP

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. - Three people are dead after a terrible crash along Highway 145 in Madera County Saturday night.

It happened along the Highway 145 between Highway 41 and Road 39 just before 8 p.m. A Honda Civic was going eastbound when it drifted into the westbound lane, according to CHP Sgt. Rafael Rivera. It clipped a GMC Canyon, but ended up hitting another Honda Civic behind it.

The driver of the Honda Civic that drifted died, as did the driver and one of the passengers in the second Honda Civic. A second passenger in that car was sent to CRMC with moderate to minor injuries.

Highway 145 and Road 38 experienced full and partial closures for some time, but by around 10:30 p.m. all roads were fully open.

Right now, Rivera said there's no indication drugs or alcohol were involved.
