Posting selfies makes you less likable, study says

PULLMAN, Washington (CNN) – Posting selfies might end up making you less likable, according to a new study from Washington State University.

Psychologists wanted to establish if people posting pictures of themselves are judged differently.

After reviewing the posts of hundreds of Instagram users, the researchers established that the perception was that they were insecure, less successful, and less open to new experiences.

However, the study found that if the pictures were taken by someone else then the person in them was seen as having higher self-esteem, being more adventurous, more outgoing, and more successful.
