PITTSBURG (KRON) – A 28-year-old woman has died after authorities say she was stabbed to death by her cousin in Pittsburg on Monday afternoon.
Officers arrived at a home on Beechwood Court on a report of a stabbing. They found a woman suffering from stab wounds to her upper body.
The woman, identified as Kirstiene Catapusan, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. She later died after suffering from her stab wounds.
Officers learned through their investigation that Catapusan and her cousin had an argument at the home.
The cousin, identified as 29-year-old Henry Brodie III, got angry with her and stabbed her multiple times with a large knife.
Authorities say that other family members got involved and were able to detain Brodie while 911 was called.
Officers placed Brodie under arrest and took him into the department.
Brodie admitted to investigators that he stabbed Catapusan multiple times during the argument — He has been booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.
Detectives met with the District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday and filed murder charges against Brodie who remains in custody on $2 million bail.
This is the second homicide in Pittsburg in 2019.
