EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – An El Paso County sheriff’s deputy is going viral for lending a helping hand to a local woman.

According to a Facebook post, Patt Hansen was recently at a Shell gas station when she realized she had lost her wallet.

That’s when deputy Mendez stepped in to help.

Mendez reportedly gave the woman $20 to fill up her gas tank and another $20 for food, according to the post.

“He won’t even let me pay him back,” Hansen wrote. “I am thoroughly grateful to Officer Mendez.”

Using the money gifted to her by Mendez, Hansen decided to grab a bite to eat at Panda Express, where she received a fortune cookie with a very fitting message.

“A good deed done will be rewarded when shared,” the fortune reads.

Since it was first posted on Saturday night, the post has racked up nearly 2,500 reactions and more than 1,000 shares on Facebook.
