The Sounds of Freedom Military Concert Band performed a free concert to honor local veterans for their service at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District Sunday.

The 35th annual concert happens each May, corresponding with Salute to the Armed Forces Day and the upcoming Memorial Day holiday.

The band is made up of anywhere between 45 and 60 members, many veterans themselves.

“It’s good to see the community support the veterans. During my era, we didn’t get a lot of support in the Vietnam era so it’s nice to see the community and the country supports the armed forces today,” said band member and veteran Donald Williams.

Anyone who can read music can join the band. The youngest member is 14-years-old and the oldest is 94.
