FRESNO, California (KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno Police are searching for two suspects, after a terrifying moment.

A family was out shopping in Fresno’s River Park, when they say, they were robbed at gunpoint.

Police say it happened just after 1 p.m. in the Buy Buy Baby store parking lot.

We spoke with shoppers who were there, many in utter shock that this happened in broad daylight.

A busy Sunday afternoon turned frightening for a few River Park shoppers. Police say the family was a woman, her daughter and the daughters one-month-old baby.

They say the three had just finished shopping at the Buy buy baby store. As they were getting ready to leave, putting the baby into its car seat, that’s when police say two men approached them in the parking lot with handguns.

“They demanded one of the wallets from one of the victims, the victim turned over the wallet and the two suspects fled in a four door sudan,” says Lt. Stephen Viveros with the Fresno Police Department.

Police say the whole ordeal happened in the middle of the afternoon, something they say is rare for the area.

“It’s unfortunate that it did happen, I haven’t heard of a person robbed in broad daylight in that busy area in a long time, if ever,” Viveros said.

Other shoppers just as shocked to hear.

“That poor one month old baby, yeah I don’t know what I would do,” says Mikayla Fronsdahl, a shopper.

Another shopper agreed.

“It’s crazy how we can’t even go out with our families anymore just to buy something simple,” says Eduardo Ceja.

He was shopping at the same store with his family. Ceja says with this and everything else going on in the world, he’s considered getting a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

“I just don’t feel safe, like I can’t go out with my family anymore,” Ceja said.

Police say the suspects are being described as two African American men, between the ages of 20-30 years-old. One suspect was described as 5’11, thin build, wearing dark clothing.

The other suspect was described as 5’6, also wearing dark clothing and a thin build.
