SACRAMENTO, Californa – A derailment on Sacramento’s light rail system Thursday night has injured a total of 27 people, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

Crews responded to the incident at Roseville Road and Marconi Avenue at 9:43 p.m. to what was initially reported as a motor vehicle accident. Of the 27 injured in the derailment, 13 were transferred to local hospitals and the others described as walking wounded.

Of those hurt, there were no life-threatening injuries and no deaths reported.

“The good thing here that we’re very happy is that no one lost their life and that no one was any critical condition,” said Sacramento Fire Department Captain Keith Wade.

The train remained upright following the crash. 40 firefighters responded to the scene. 15 ambulances were also used to treat those hurt.
