FRESNO, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A man is under arrest after police say he robbed a Fresno store with a large kitchen knife.

It happened on Wednesday at around 8:30 p.m. at the Walgreens on Brawley and Clinton Avenues.

The cashier told officers that the suspect tried to buy cigarettes and used a high school ID to prove his age. According to police, the suspect became angry when the ID was refused and began threatening the cashier with a large kitchen knife. The suspect demanded that the cashier open the cash register and give him several cartons of cigarettes. He allegedly grabbed the cash and the cigarettes and fled on foot.

The suspect was arrested a short time later by a passing patrol officer. He has been identified as 49-year-old Michael Corral.
