Fresno Police are investigating a crash that sent a family to the hospital Thursday night.

The crash happened just after 5 p.m. at Iowa Avenue and 3rd Street, according to Lt. Bill Dooley. He says a family of four, a grandma, mother and kids were in the car when it collided into another car, flipping over. They went to the hospital but are expected to be okay.

Fresno police say the family inside the second car, a Lexus, was a Jose Mendoza and two kids. Mendoza reportedly fled the scene. Fresno police found and arrested him shortly after. Mendoza faces multiple felony charges including hit-and-run, DUI, and child endangerment.

Neighbor Mona Nunez has lived in her home for 15 years. She says speeding is a problem on her street.

“People should be aware that when there is stop signs, they need to stop. Because this is what happens when you don’t,” said Nunez.

She even put up reflectors on her fence so drivers could see better at night. She says the neighborhood is filled with children.

“I’m constantly looking out for the kids because I get scared for them,” said Nunez.

A power pole was also knocked down by the crash. Pacific Gas & Electric Co. is working to fix the pole.

Dramatic video shows several people rushing to the aid of the family in the rolled over car:
