Mina Serrano, 22, leaves behind a two-year-old son

FRESNO, California — The family of Mina Serrano is now focusing on giving their loved the funeral services she deserves after losing her in a fatal accident in southeast Fresno Saturday.

When asked to describe their sister in one word, Britney Rocha said light, while Katherine Melendez said kind.

“When you were having a bad day, she’d be there with a smile and a hug,” Rocha said. “And say I love you, no matter what.”

Her kindness made her a very giving person. Rocha and Melendez say her qualities also made her a phenomenal mother to her two-year-old son, Mason.

Where her caring nature really shine? Her passion for baking.

“[She’d feed you] random desserts, even if they looked crazy. She was like, ‘Taste it! You’re gonna love it,'” Rocha said.

Fresno Police are still investigating why the SUV Serrano was in hit a green car and slammed into the back of a big rig parked in front of Dulceria Mojica Saturday. Her son was also in the car, he survived.

The driver, Joshua Parker, 34, was arrested after he was treated at Community Regional Medical Center. His bail has been set at more than $113,000 and is facing multiple felonies — including gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI causing injury or death.

“We just want justice for her because she didn’t deserve to go the way she did,” Melendez said.

Melendez started a GoFundMe campaign so the family could give Serrano the services she deserves, saying the family just needs a little bit of help.

“We want that chance to say goodbye, because we didn’t get that,” Rocha said.
