FRESNO, California (KSEE/KGPE) – A contractor working in southeast Fresno hit a gas line Tuesday afternoon, prompting the evacuation of three homes, according to Fresno Fire Department.

Crews said Cedar Avenue, between Butler Avenue and Kings Canyon Road, could be closed until the end of the day while the damage is repaired by PG&E.

Nearby residents not being evacuated have been told to shelter in place.

“If you’re in the area, avoid Cedar,” warned Battalion Chief William Veiga. “It’s going to be shut down for the next six hours.”
