Fresno Councilmember Luis Chavez says, the state sends billions of dollars to Washington D.C. each year, but getting our fair share of money back, requires community participation.

“For those people that don’t participate, we lose $2,056 for every person we don’t count,” Chavez said. “And that’s money that should be going to our schools, that’s money that should be going to our roads, our parks.”

Chavez says, around 30% of people in South Fresno, don’t take part in the census.
