This 5K brought some holiday cheer in the middle of summer

FRESNO, California — Even in triple digit temperatures, people in the Central Valley still found a way to bring some holiday spirit.

People around Fresno’s Christmas Tree Lane Saturday morning could catch Santa Claus himself sporting some shades. Around 7:45 a.m., 750 people ran in the Christmas in July 5K.

The course included the iconic street where homeowners deck out their homes every holiday season.

Everyone got some presents from Santa Claus early, including a medallion and a free shirt. People could do this as a team or as individuals.

“I love the theme,” one runner said. “Before you know it, we are in Christmas [season again].”

For those who didn’t want to run, they could walk the course.
