For two weeks, they offered free medical care to Armenia’s medically under served. Screening, treating and healing. Gifts from Fresno with a lasting impact. Like a newly dedicated labor and delivery room at a hospital in the town of Ashtarak. It was paid for by a donation from Fresno resident Matty Matoian. A noticeable update for this decades old facility that serves thousands every year. “Fresh flooring. . The walls.. And two brand new labor and delivery tables,” says Honorary Consul Berj Apkarian.
In the city of Massis, there’s a new addition at the Medical Center. A brand new renovated Opthalmology Lab. Donated by Dr. Garo Khatchikian of Fresno has his wife Noune who was born in Armenia– her mother was the Ophthalmologist at this hospital for more than 30 years. “I’m assuming she’s looking down now and smiling with her big huge beautiful kind smile right now and saying thank you,” says Noune Khatchikian. “We always thought about helping Armenia in some way to give back. It’s not always to take. You have to give back,” says Dr. Khatchikian.
It’s a mission with a purpose. Providing humanitarian care from Fresno to Armenia– for now, and beyond.
