Suspect In DUI Crash That Killed 8-Year Old In Selma Being Held On I.N.S. Detainer

The suspect CHP investigators say was responsible for a suspected DUI crash Saturday night in Selma is being held in the Fresno County Jail on a detainer issued by the Immigration And Naturalization Service.

35-year old Karmjit Singh was reportedly behind the wheel of a vehicle that ran a stop sign in Selma and struck the a vehicle carrying three occupants.  The crash took the life of 8-year old Maverick Martzen.  The boy’s parents, Megan and Scott Martzen remain hospitalized with serious injuries.

The CHP says Singh was driving on a suspended license due to a DUI conviction from 2016.

No information for the the I.N.S hold is given on the jail’s website.Singh was booked on Sunday.  The I.N.S. Detainer went into effect on Monday.  There is no information about why the detainer has been issued on the jail website.

In addition to the detainer, Singh is being held on $200,000 bail.
