Surfer in stable condition after being bit by a shark in Western Australia

(NBC) A surfer is in stable condition after being bit by a shark in Western Australia. A man, believed to be in his 20s, was airlifted to a hospital. Officials said his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The surfer managed to pull himself onto rocks where surf life savers administered initial first aid before paramedics arrived.

The beach was closed but some people chose not to leave the water, despite warnings.
