SQUAW VALLEY, Calif. — A Squaw Valley man is in the Fresno County Jail facing a long list of charges including assault with a firearm and possession of explosives.
Deputies said 31-year-old Buford King shot another man in the foot on Sunday.
Fresno County Sheriff’s Deputies were combing the home of 31 year old Buford King on the 37,000 block of Squaw Valley Road.
“He got into conversation with Buford King and it resulted with Buford shooting him in the foot we don’t know reason behind it,” said Tony Botti, Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said they heard King was using explosives. They sent the Fresno County Sheriff Swat Team, Clovis Bomb squad and others with a search warrant. They said King came out of his home willingly.
“They took advantage of an opportunity to search further of this property and that is because we got word that Buford King might be related to the disappearance of two missing persons.”
Those two missing people are 35 year old Aleksey Shelest last heard from on May 18th when he was in Squaw Valley.
62 year old Donnie Lee who lived on King’s property in a trailer was last seen on November 1st on Squaw Valley Road and Sand Creek Road.
They brought in cadaver dogs to search for evidence. They were unable to find any evidence connecting King with the missing persons.
“The hope is he stays in custody for a considerable amount of time people have been scared of the behaviors he has exhibited,” said Botti.
Deputies said they are still investigating but they don’t have the evidence to charge King with anything else besides the shooting of the first man.
