FRESNO, California – Update: Mike Karbassi is the apparent winner of a special election to fill the Fresno County District 2 seat vacated by former city council member Steve Brandau when he took over the District 2 seat on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors.

Fresno Mayor Lee Brand released a statement on the results.

I’m pleased that Mike Karbassi has won the special election for the vacant District 2 Council seat outright and I congratulate him on his very successful campaign. Mike is coming to City Hall at an important time in our city’s history and I look forward to working with him on my vision for Fresno, which includes improving public safety, creating jobs, and improving the quality of life of all of our citizens.
