Search for Clovis murder suspect focused on Paso Robles

New information on the murders of a mother and daughter in Clovis.
Police have the murder weapon and the getaway car. But they are still searching for the suspect, Dave McCann, the estranged husband of one of the victims.
Clovis police say 49-year-old Dave Thomas McCann stabbed his wife and mother-in-law with a kitchen knife, killing them both early Saturday morning.
Investigators say McCann then drove a moving truck from Clovis to Paso Robles where his in-laws live. And that’s where the search to find Dave McCann is focused.
Clovis police detectives are in Paso Robles and part of the team looking for Dave McCann.
They have gone through the home of McCann’s in-laws in Paso. That was searched by a SWAT team.
“They thought maybe the guy was in the house, cause he did break into the house and did take the bicycle and stuff,” said Ron, who lives next door to Dave McCann’s in-laws in Paso Robles. Ron met McCann last winter, when Dave talked to him about solar panels.
“He seemed very nice, rational, and at that time it didn’t seem to be any situation between he and his wife at all,” Ron said.
Dave McCann had a solar panel business. But Clovis police say the business was having financial trouble.
And neighbors say McCann and his wife Tierney were separating. Tierney worked in the burn unit at Community Regional Medical Center.
“Sweetest person you’d ever want to meet, she’s not got a mean bone in her body. She’s, I can’t even tell you, she’s a beautiful woman,” said Tierney McCann’s neighbor Teri Hickman.
Police have not released a motive for the murders.
A search of court records did not show a divorce filing, only a traffic ticket for Dave McCann.
But Ron and his neighbors are worried a murder suspect could be nearby.
“Just like last night, we normally don’t leave our lights on, we had all of our lights on and everything locked up, and outside lights. We were concerned he might come back,” Ron said.
Clovis police are following up leads. They say dave McCann has friends on the Central Coast.
“As long as we have leads and ties, that keep us here until we exhaust those leads or find him,” said Lt. Jorge Gomez with Clovis police.
Anyone with information on Dave McCann’s whereabouts is asked to call Clovis police.
