Report Illegal Fireworks Using FresGO App

Just days away from July 4th, the FresGO mobile app for the City of Fresno will now allow you to report illegal fireworks anonymously.

If you head to the TNT fireworks stand at Shields and Chestnut in Fresno, you’ll find Patti Bookout selling Safe and Sane fireworks for the Central California Youth Symphony.

“It’s much better to do it this way. You can do it right in front of your house, on the road, and it’s a lot safer,” stated Bookout.

Safe and Sane Fireworks are the only kind fireworks people can legally use in the City of Fresno. But unfortunately, many still break the law. TJ Miller with the City, said they hope a new widget on their FresGO app will help cut down on the crime. People can use the app  to report if they see illegal fireworks, or know if they’re being sold. You can upload pictures and even stay anonymous.

“Then our PD, our Police Department and our Fire Department both receive notification,” stated Miller.

The City said illegal fireworks pose a safety and fire threat. Safe and Sane Fireworks are allowed to be fired off between the hours of 7am and midnight.

Bookout thinks the new feature on the app will encourage people to speak up against the unsafe fireworks.

“My thing is, you know, get involved, you know, be safe, let’s all be safe. Let’s have a better community, prevent things from happening,” ended Bookout.
