The California Highway Patrol is investigating how a body ended up on an embankment in northeast Fresno. It was found near the Highway 41 North on-ramp at Herndon Avenue.

Authorities say a group of transients first discovered the body under the cover of trees. They say it appears the body has been there at least a couple of days. It’s not clear if the person is male or female but could possibly have been homeless. Officers found belongings and what looked like a small encampment. Authorities aren’t sure at this point if the death is a homicide.
