A Porterville man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of an 18-year-old Tulare woman.
The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office said Dale Williams Watson, 52, Porterville was under a 24 hour surviellance as investigators were gathering evidence to connect Watson to the murder.
On Tuesday, he was taken into custody on Tuesday during a traffic stop in Porterville.
Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux said investigators located surviellance video at local business in the City of Tulare of Watson and Alexander the day before she was murdered.
“They were outside of a hotel where video surveillance was captured by our detectives identifying a vehicle and a suspect last know seeing her alive,” Boudreaux said.
Investigators said there’s a lot of evidence being collected at the scene that could match up with the suspect and the suspect’s car.
Boudreaux said the victim was shot and strangled, they’re trying to figure out if Watson killed the victim in the orchard or in a different location.
Boudreaux said Watson is known to be violent and known to have an anger management problem.
He said Alexander was a young adult who was troubled with a history of running away and drug use.
The family of Alexander spoke to Your Central Valley on Wednesday.
Carlton Jones said he had a feeling it was his counsin when he heard the news about a young woman’s body being located in Tulare County.
“We’re grateful that someone who’d be willing to hurt a child is off the streets. Now, our faith is in the system that through the process the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office can put a good case,” Jones said.
Watson expected to be arraigned on the one count of murder on Wednesday.
Alexander’s family is in the process of planning a funeral and have set up a Go Fund me page.
