WASHINGTON (AP) – Bernie Sanders’ campaign says he has raised nearly $6 million in 24 hours since announcing his 2020 presidential campaign.

Sanders’ campaign said the campaign raised more than $4 million following the 12 hours after he announced plans to run for president.

In all, more than 223,000  people in all 50 states made donations.

His haul bests totals publicized by others in the Democratic race so far.

For example, Senator Kamala Harris raised $1.5 million in the 24 hours following her announcement.

And the Wall Street Journal reports when Sanders sought the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination he raised $1.5 million from some 35,000 in the first 24 hours.
