FRESNO, California – Fresno Police are investigating a man who allegedly attempted to rob a 7-Eleven of a bolted down cash register, after he was involved in a pursuit that led to a four-car crash.
It all happened Wednesday around 4:30 p.m. near Fresno City College where State Center Community College District police officers were in pursuit of a woman and man near Highway 41 and McKinley Avenue, says Lt. Bill Dooley with the Fresno Police Department.
The crash ended in a four-car collision, and several people were sent to the hospital, Dooley says.
Naymond Trotter, 33, is accused of fleeing the crash site scene and heading to a nearby 7-Eleven where Dooley says he pushed customers out of the way, attempting to steal a bolted down cash register.
The store clerk ran to the back of the store, “scared to death,” Dooley explains.
Trotter then was found in a residential neighborhood near McKinley Avenue and Fresno Street, where he was soon taken into custody.
Dooley says Trotter is a parolee who served time for burglaries, and is now facing several felonies stemming from this incident.
The woman who drove the car in the pursuit, where Trotter was a passenger, was taken to the hospital, but is also facing criminal charges.
Dooley says he cannot give information regarding the pursuit, as the investigating agency is the State Center Community College District Police Department.
