Police investigate shooting in Fresno; victim not cooperating

News

FRESNO, California — Fresno Police are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital.

It happened at Summerset Apartments near Weldon and Mariposa Monday night.

A 22-year-old was shot and taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, but police said he is not cooperating.

Police got the call about the shooting around 9:20 p.m. from a family member of the victim, who was visiting at the time.

Police don’t think the victim was actually shot at the apartments where he was found.

They tell us initially, the victim said his shooting injury was self-inflicted, but after looking at the wound and evidence in the apartment, which police said is the victim’s parent’s home, they came to a different conclusion.

“We determined the shooting didn’t occur here, and the victim is totally uncooperative, and it’s not a self-inflicted gunshot wound, he has been shot by somebody else, but he wont cooperate with our investigation and there’s no blood inside the apartment,” said Charlie Chamalbide with the Fresno Police Department.

Police are investigating where the shooting actually happened.
