The suspects in a string of robberies are now under arrest.
“The age is kind of shocking,” Sgt. Brian Valles of the Fresno Police Department said Wednesday.
Jaheen Starks who is 20-year-old, 22-year-old Michelle Sanchez, and a 15 and 16-year-old male hit three stores. Surveillance from one scene shows the suspects walking a clerk to the register, while holding a weapon to the employee’s head.
It all started Jan 26 at Palm Bluffs Liquor store.
“There were two individuals who went in armed with guns and held the clerks at gunpoint while they took property including cash as well as other items from the store,” Valles said
Channi Singh has managed the store for about nine years.
“It’s a big shock. It’s something you don’t expect. You come here to work so you can earn some money have a good quality of life,” he said.
On sunday three males robbed a 7-Eleven on Bullard and Palm. “(They) held the clerks at gunpoint while they stole cigarettes and cash from the registers,” Valles said.
Just ten minutes later and less than a mile away, a similar scenario happened at a 7-Eleven on Shaw and Maroa.
Investigators were able to identify the suspects and link them to all three crimes.
“I don’t know if they were getting more brazen after the first one to keep doing more and more and more,” Valles said.
Singh said he was happy to hear of the arrests. “Yes it was good, oh yes it was good. We all are hard working people and we put our time and all that in,” he said.
Investigators said the firearms were found to be spray painted airsoft guns.
“Even when we picked them up and handled them prior to processing them, they felt real they looked just like a real gun,” Valles said.
