Police Arrest Armed Robbers Who Shot Man Over Gold Necklace

News

FRESNO, Calif. — According to police, robberies have been on the rise but officers are cracking down and making arrests. In Fresno Police’s crime view on Wednesday, they shared surveillance video of suspects stealing necklaces at gunpoint throughout the city and shared details about the liquor store robberies in Central Fresno.

During both of sets of crimes, young children were present.

On May 3rd, 4 suspects hit 5 different locations in Fresno. They are caught on surveillance walking up to people, pointing their guns at them, and yanking gold necklaces off their necks.

“In just over 7 hours we had 5 victims of robbery,” said Chief Jerry Dyer, Fresno Police Department.

They hit the El Mercado market on East Church, a taco truck on Cedar and Thomas. At the taco truck they left behind a bullet hole after they opened fire.

They also went to Caluchi Town Restaurant on Shaw. There, one dad was standing next to his child as they yanked the chain from his neck. The child stood by oblivious to the danger.

They then went to Ranchwood condos in Southeast Fresno and this Johnny Quik store on Ashlan and Blythe.

At the Johnny Quik store, one of the victims decides to fight back, grabs the gun and then a brawl begins.

The victim manages to get one suspect to the floor while trying to fight off both suspects. The victim then throws the gun, but the second suspect grabs it and shoots him. They still steal the gold chain from his neck.

“I am happy to say all 4 of those individuals are in custody,” said Chief Jerry Dyer.

Police said three of the suspects are 19 years old and one is 22. 3 days after these robberies, police said 3 brothers and one step brother teamed up and hit Gateway Market and Boss’s Liqour.

In the surveillance video at Gateway, they point their guns and demand the clerk hand over cash. Meanwhile, they run down the owners 8 year old grandson.

“These crooks actually push him down as they went in and then forced him back down,” said Sgt. Brian Valles, Fresno Police.

Police were able to catch all 4 suspects in the getaway car after they hit Boss’s Liquor.

All victims, including the man shot are expected to be ok. The suspects are all facing armed robbery charges.
