Fresno’s Valley Animal Center is collecting pennies for pets. The campaign raises money for the no-kill shelter.
During March, they’ll be at intersections around town collecting change. They’re also taking donations online.
The money goes to animals like Twinkle, a 4-year-old chihuahua. When she came to the shelter she had a broken leg. Now, 3-months later she’s ready for a forever home.
“Every penny goes to these animals we have in our care. Their health, their spay and neuters, their clinic care. The dogs and cats really need it, and it goes straight from the community to the animals,” said Casey Nagle, with Valley Animal Center.
“Pennies for Pets” runs the entire month of March; they’ve set a goal $85,000.
