CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A penguin at the Metro Richmond Zoo in Virginia has reached a special milestone.

The zoo said “ET” an African penguin, turned 39 recently. That now makes ET the oldest living African penguin in captivity in the United States on record, the zoo said.

Normally, Metro Richmond Zoo said African penguins live to be roughly 15-years-old in the wild and into their 20s in captivity, which ET has now long-eclipsed.
