Opening statements expected to begin for the murder trail of an Exeter police officer

News

Opening statements are expected to begin for the murder trial of an Exeter police officer.

Erika Sandoval is accused of shooting and killing her ex-husband, officer Daniel Green at his Tulare County home back in 2015.

Sandoval claimed Green had threatened to take her son away and that she didn’t want to lose him.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office say Sandoval described hiding in Green’s home, took away his weapons and ultimately shot Green multiple times in the bathroom.

A judge ruled that there is enough evidence to charge Sandoval with first degree murder.

The District Attorney’s office is seeking the death penalty in this matter.

The jury selection will wrap up Tuesday and then statements will follow.
