Oakhurst fruit stand celebrating a milestone

You’ve likely seen it or stopped at it when passing through Oakhurst. A mom and pop fruit stand that’s celebrating an impressive milestone.

For decades they have shared their locally grown fruit and vegetables including what some would say are the best nectarines in the state.

Mary Korakis, originally from Greece, moved to California and met her husband Mark Korakis. Together they opened their fruit stand which is located right off of Highway 41 heading north towards Yosemite National Park.

Soon they will be celebrating two decades of being in business.

“Close to 20 years,” said Mary. “We opened this place in 2000.”

This fruit stand may look small outside. But, inside the Korakis sell more than 100 different types of fruits and vegetables.

“Especially summertime everything you name it,” said Mary. “Down in the valley we grow so many things. So, we grow almost everything.”

Faith Holder is a frequent shopper at the Oakhurst Fruit Stand. She says everything is excellent.

“I am always like we have to go to Oakhurst which is like a 25 mile drive to get some more nectarines because they are the best,” said Holder.

The fruit stand is open seven days a week and they accept cash only.
