No plastic bottles at San Francisco airport

Starting today, you can no longer buy a plastic bottle of water at San Francisco’s aiport.

Airport vendors will now sell water in aluminum, glass or compostable containers. The ban does not apply to flavored drinks. You can still buy plastic bottles of soft drinks and similar beverages, which you can refill with water.

It’s part of the airport’s goal to become zero-waste by 2021. That means 90 percent of the waste it produces can’t go to landfills.
